Francia Cooper on Strength, Simplicity & Sustainable Wellness

Francia Cooper on Strength, Simplicity & Sustainable Wellness

This International Women’s Day, we’re spotlighting Francia Cooper, founder of Leap by FC and a leading voice in the shift toward simpler, more sustainable wellness. Building her brand from her NYC apartment, she’s redefining fitness as a tool for nervous system regulation, not just performance or aesthetics. Her approach cuts through the noise: consistency over extremes, discipline over burnout, strength over shrinking. Francia represents a new era of women in wellness: one rooted in power, clarity, and self-trust. Ahead, she shares the rituals that keep her grounded, the mindset that fuels her growth, and why the future of wellness is about doing less, better and showing up for yourself every single day.

We really admire your approach to living well. For those new to your world, can you tell us a little bit about what you do and how you spend your days?

I’m the founder of Leap by FC, a movement-led wellness brand rooted in simplicity. The mission is to remove friction from movement and make wellness easier to adopt and sustain. Jump rope is the heart of Leap because it removes barriers in that it’s familiar, portable, no gym required.

My days are layered. I train clients as a personal trainer, and I run my brand from my NYC studio apartment, including managing the website, shipping orders, building programs, developing products, and creating content. I also partner with brands as a creator.

No matter how busy the day gets, my workouts are non-negotiable. Movement is how I regulate. It’s not optional for me, it’s foundational.

How would you describe your relationship to wellness right now, and how has it changed over the years?

It used to be very performance based - about aesthetics, how hard I trained, and constantly pushing myself. Now it’s about how I feel. I prioritize regulation, nervous system health, and longevity.

I care more about consistency than intensity. I’m less interested in extremes and more focused on repeatable habits that support my wellbeing long term. I've learned that I don’t need to prove anything through my workouts anymore. I just want to feel strong and regulated and that shift changed everything for me.

You’ve built something incredible. Tell us about your business or platform and the one milestone that still gives you a major hit of dopamine when you think about it.

Leap by FC is a movement-led wellness brand centered on jump rope and bodyweight training and designed to make movement accessible anywhere.

Recently, I spoke on a panel about Leap on stage, sharing the vision in front of people who didn’t know me a year ago. That moment felt surreal. It happened sooner than I expected, and it reminded me that this idea is growing beyond my apartment walls.

But the milestone that still hits every time? When someone messages me and says they’ve started moving or that they’ve stayed consistent. It doesn’t have to be a dramatic transformation, just consistency. That’s the mission that means everything to me.

What’s one daily ritual you refuse to skip that genuinely supports your nervous system or keeps your energy levels in check?

Prayer and gratitude. I never take for granted the opportunity to wake up each day. Nothing is promised. Prayer keeps me grounded and gratitude recalibrates me, especially as a founder.

What's a wellness myth you’re ready to retire, or a “deep cut” practice you wish more people were talking about?

That it has to be complicated. You don’t need 15 supplements and a 30-step routine. Lift weights. Eat real food. Get sunlight. Sleep. Stay connected to people. Ten minutes of movement can shift your entire day. We’ve overcomplicated what was always meant to be simple!

As a founder, you really know what it means to be “always-on” and that’s often a recipe for burnout. What’s your go-to protocol for a total mind-body reset?

Honestly? A quick trip to Miami. My best friend lives there. When I start to feel stretched thin, sometimes the most regulating thing I can do is change my environment. A few days in the sun, taking long walks having real conversations in the ocean air resets my nervous system. When I come back, I’m clearer, calmer, and more creative. Sometimes the reset isn’t doing more, it’s stepping away.

For women looking to drop out of their heads and back into their bodies, what advice would you offer?

Start simple: Jump rope, walk, breathe, lift something. You need rhythm, not the perfect plan. Movement pulls you out of your head faster than overthinking ever will.

We’re looking ahead. What’s the most exciting shift you see coming in the wellness space, especially for women?

Strength. Women are moving away from the fear of building muscle. Muscle is finally being seen as longevity, not masculinity. The next era of wellness for women isn’t about shrinking. It’s about power and that feels like a really healthy shift.
