Nourishment Over Deprivation: How Lisa Odenweller Is Changing the Reset Conversation
As part of our International Women’s Month series, we’re spotlighting women who are redefining what it means to live and lead well. This week, we sit down with Lisa-Spittler Odenweller, founder of Kroma Wellness, to talk about building businesses as a single mom, choosing longevity over punishment at 55, and why true wellness still comes back to the basics. From creating a reset rooted in nourishment (not deprivation) to carving out rituals that protect her nervous system, Lisa shares the grounded, no-shortcuts philosophy that continues to shape her life and the lives of thousands of women navigating hormonal shifts, burnout, and the pressure to do it all.
Kroma's superfood broths, cleanse kits, and functional nutrition are designed to flood your body with what it actually needs during a reset, so you're fueling the process, not just enduring it. We really admire your approach to living well. For those new to your world, can you tell us a little bit about what you do and how you spend your days?
First and foremost, I’m a very proud single mom of three grown kids. I raised them on my own while building each of my companies.
I’ve been in wellness for almost 20 years, creating healthy, craveable foods, beverages and cleanse programs that help people look and feel amazing while simplifying their lives. I have had several businesses including Beaming which was the first superfood cafe concept in the country, followed by Kroma Wellness which I launched in July of 2021.
Most days I’m focused on the business, but I’m equally committed to my own health through daily movement, my HigherDOSE sauna, and the little rituals that keep me grounded and sane.

How would you describe your relationship to wellness right now, and how has it changed over the years?
It’s simpler… and somehow more complicated at the same time.
As I’ve gotten older (I just turned 55, although I feel 28), my body and workouts have shifted. I’m less into punishing workouts and more into hikes, power walks with my Aion weighted vest, strength training, dance, sculpt yoga. More longevity, less intensity.
I love that we have so many tools now like peptides, GLP-1s, interesting supplements, IV drips, wearables, etc but it can also be really overwhelming. I use some of these tools, and I’m grateful for them. But nothing replaces the basics: move your body every day, be in nature, get good sleep, eat protein and veggies, laugh a lot. That’s really where the magic is.
You’ve built something incredible. Tell us about your business or platform and the one milestone that still gives you a major hit of dopamine when you think about it.
We launched Kroma with 18 “just add water” superfood-rich foods, snacks and beverages and a revolutionary 5-Day Reset program that focuses on nourishment over starvation and deprivation. I am a foodie, so each of the products were created in the kitchen by my daughter and I.
The Kroma System, as we call it, was designed for busy people on the go who care about their health, but don't have time to think about what they are going to eat all day. Especially while traveling, juggling work, kids, life, etc. I created what I needed for me and I knew I wasn’t alone.
The biggest dopamine hit? The thousands of customer testimonials where people share how Kroma has changed their lives. Especially women who are going through hormonal changes and don’t know what to eat or how to feel good anymore.

What’s one daily ritual you refuse to skip that genuinely supports your nervous system or keeps your energy levels in check?
Can I pick two? :)
Daily movement, ideally outside. Beach walks, hikes, bootcamps, anything in nature.
And my HigherDOSE infrared sauna. You can’t bring your phone in, which I secretly love. It forces me to unplug, meditate, breathe, and just be still before the day takes over. It’s one of the few places I’m completely offline and able to really ground.
What's a wellness myth you’re ready to retire, or a “deep cut” practice you wish more people were talking about?
Sorry to break everyone’s bubble, but there are no shortcuts and certainly no easy buttons when it comes to your health. In the age of peptides, GLP-1s and endless “hacks,” I think we’ve lost ourselves in our search for the quick fix. I’m not anti-peptide or anti-GLP-1. In fact, I’m actually a fan when used responsibly. But not as a replacement for eating well, strength training, and doing the work. The foundation still matters.
As a founder, you really know what it means to be “always-on” and that’s often a recipe for burnout. What’s your go-to protocol for a total mind-body reset?
As a single mom building companies for 25+ years, I know burnout well. For a long time, I thought eating clean and working out was enough. But what I’ve learned is that I also need real disconnection. Not checking email for a weekend. Short getaways with my partner. Spending time with girlfriends. And I have learned in doing this, I am so much more productive and creative when I come back to work.

For women looking to drop out of their heads and back into their bodies, what advice would you offer?
Dance. Dance. Dance. And if you really want to change your life, take a class with Kristin Sudeikis at Forward Space in NYC. Nothing drops me back into my body more than dance.
We’re looking ahead. What’s the most exciting shift you see coming in the wellness space, especially for women?
This might not be the sexy answer, but I hope we stop chasing the next “get skinny fast” trend. I hope we come back to peace in our bodies and truly allow ourselves the gift of self care. Eat well. Prioritize protein. Move your body every day. Sleep eight hours. Surround yourself with people who light you up and make you laugh. Do work that excites you. Dress up sexy. No wellness hack will make you feel better than making YOU number one.
