A Cycle of Red: Red Light Therapy Aligned with Your Cycle

A Cycle of Red: Red Light Therapy Aligned with Your Cycle

Why Your Cycle and Red Light Together Make a Powerful Pair

Your menstrual cycle is more than just a monthly event; it’s a rhythm with distinct “seasons.” Each phase (menstrual, follicular, ovulatory, luteal) has unique hormonal shifts, energy patterns, and self-care needs.

Science shows that red light therapy supports your body during these shifts by:

  • Boosting mitochondrial energy (ATP) to support hormone balance.

  • Improving circulation and easing cramps.

  • Lowering inflammation to calm PMS.

  • Supporting skin, mood, and recovery.

To dive deeper, we sat down with Hannah Singer, Founder of Growth of Mind, where she blends yoga therapy, breathwork, and conscious coaching to help women align with their natural cycles and cultivate deeper mind-body balance.

Q&A with Hannah Singer

Tell Us About Yourself, and What Inspired You to Start Sharing Your Journey Around Women’s Health and Cycle Awareness?

Hello Earthlings! I’m a conscious life + menstrual cycle coach, yoga therapist, and psychosomatic guide. My mission is to carve out more space for light and joy in this world, and within the universes that exist inside each of us.

I lost my period for four years, battled hormonal acne, lived in constant stress, and kept searching for answers outside myself. That struggle became my living laboratory. Through trial, error, and healing, I reclaimed my cycle and discovered how education and embodiment are key. Now I get to share that wisdom and support others in doing the same.

How Has Living in Tune With Your Cycle Shaped Your Approach to Self-Care, Energy Management, and Daily Rituals?

Living in tune with my cycle has completely transformed my life. Everything I do (or don’t do) flows from the phase I’m in. Each phase holds its own nature like a season and an energetic expression (yin or yang). When I align with that rhythm, I tap into my truest self.

This awareness shapes how I show up daily in my self-care, movement, creativity, and even in relationships. It gives me permission to ebb and flow with nature rather than push against it.

What Are Some of Your Go-To Practices During Different Phases of Your Cycle?

  • Menstrual (Winter / Yin): slowing down, gentle yoga, red light therapy, yoga nidra, breathwork, reflection, time in nature.

  • Follicular (Spring / Rising Yang): playful movement (HIIT, biking, swimming), creative writing, connecting with friends, red light + PEMF Mat, lighter foods.

  • Ovulatory (Summer / Full Yang): power yoga, expressive art, manifestation rituals, smoothies and raw foods, PEMF Mat.

  • Luteal (Autumn / Yin Rising): grounding yoga, red raspberry leaf tea, red light therapy, castor oil packs, warm foods, nesting.

When Did You First Discover Red Light Therapy, and What Intrigued You About Using it for Hormone Balance and Period Support?

I first learned about red light therapy through HigherDOSE! A friend introduced me to the PEMF Mat, and I fell in love. From there, I became curious about your other tools and started experimenting with red light panels in yoga.

What intrigued me most was how red light therapy works at a cellular level: it relieves cramps by boosting blood flow and lowering inflammation, supports hormones by helping mitochondria in ovarian cells function better, and eases PMS by improving sleep, mood, and energy. Timing matters too, like using it on my belly during my period, or during ovulation to support skin and recovery.

How Have You Been Incorporating the HigherDOSE Red Light Mat Into Your Cycle Rituals? What Benefits Have You Noticed?

The mat has become a staple in my cycle care. I use it during my period to ease cramps, but also in other phases for grounding and balance. I’ve noticed reduced premenstrual cramps, calmer energy, and even visible improvements in my skin health.

It’s more than a tool, it’s a ritual that enhances how I move through my cycle and my life.

Do You Pair Red Light With Other Practices as Part of Your Nightly or Monthly Rituals?
Absolutely, I love habit stacking!

  • Morning: lemon water, meditation on the Red Light Mat, short walk.

  • Midday: yoga nidra + red light session.

  • Evening: journaling or reading on the mat; during my period, I oil my body and listen to binaural beats while soaking in the light.

Pairing red light with meditation, yoga nidra, or reading makes each practice deeper. It becomes a layered experience for mind, body, and spirit.

What Advice Would You Give Women Curious About Supporting Their Hormones Naturally Through Ritual, Light, or Mindful Practices?

Learn your unique cycle. There’s no one right way.

  • Mind and hormones are connected. Your thoughts influence your hormones, and your hormones influence your mind — it’s a continuous feedback loop.

  • Play without expectation. Experiment gently, and see what resonates for you.

  • Trust your inner wisdom. Your body knows. When you honor its rhythms, healing happens more easily.

  • Start small. You either “win or learn”, every step gives insight.

The Wait Is Over
